Super Bowl v. Super Tuesday
February 7, 2004
Hey guys. Sorry I’ve been out of touch (as if you’ve really been salivating over the next post for the past couple of months)…. But I started a new job and have been out of town a lot lately.
But not so removed that I haven’t been witness to all the excitement here at the start of the New Year. I was in New York for work last weekend but came home to DC to watch the Super Bowl with our collective family at Nellie’s…. Being a Skins fan it’s hard to pull for the Giants and I couldn’t have landed in a worse place to watch the Super Bowl than in New York. Loudmouths and braggarts. Glad I was able to come home to avoid all of that J I missed the Nell and the community vibe there so that’s where I felt compelled to be.
Of course, Nellie’s was no oasis from the Giants-fans either. For my part, I think Tom Brady is perfect and I wanted him to have a record to reflect that, but the Giants really earned it and deserved the win. Most people are at peace with sports results when they know that the team who won earned it over the other one. Bill Belichick’s early exit from the stadium helped cement my peace.
Only in Washington, but it was hard to believe that Super Tuesday superseded the Super Bowl in anticipation. Tuesday night was jam-packed at Nellie’s with roars for Clinton battled the roars for Obama (and a few murmurs for Romney and Huckabee).
And if you were a Patriots fan AND a Ron Paul fan you were having a rough week all by Wednesday.
(At least Ricky got kicked off Project Runway…..)
Talk at you later.
